Current Openings

  • We are seeking an experienced Gradesman to work on the exciting and ever-expanding portfolio of projects in our civil division.

    Responsibilities:

    • Install and/or repair water-main, sanitary, and storm;

    • Aligning pipes and checking grades during pipeline construction using pipe laser and rotary laser;

    • Signal equipment operators to indicate proper equipment positioning;

    • Setting manholes, catch basins and other structures to proper grade and alignment;

    • Co-ordinate layout of pipe routes with drawings, survey, and check slopes for conformance requirements;

    • Reviewing locates and daylighting existing utilities;

    • Confined space entry;

    • Benching and parging of manholes and catch basins;

    • Operate equipment such as a jumping jack, jackhammer, quick-cut saw, etc.;

    • Monitor elevation and alignment for the construction of the granular base for various asphalt pathways, parking lot, and concrete sidewalks/pads;

    • Review plan and profile drawings or specifications to determine work requirements;

    • Monitor elevations for rough grade;

    • Assist Foreman in completing and submitting paperwork related to any jobs, maintain written time records and work orders.

    • Actively participate in on-the-job training of crew members.

    • Adhere to the companies Health and Safety Policies and Procedures;

    • Maintain professional company image.

    • Follow all health and safety policies and procedures prescribed by the Company and WHMIS Guidelines in performance of

    • Winter work is available in terms of clearing and salting of snow from sidewalks, driveways, and parking lots for various residential and commercial properties during the winter months.

    Requirements:

    • Knowledge of civil construction methods, scheduling, and plan reading;

    • 4+ years of experience as a pipe layer;

    • Leadership experience is considered an asset;

    • Previous experience and knowledge about the excavating industry;

    • Ability to do physical labour and lift up to 23kg (50lbs);

    • Willingness to work outdoors in all weather conditions;

    • Must be punctual and reliable;

    • On-the-job training will be provided;

    • Valid G License to operate company vehicle;

    Duties and Responsibilities

    • Install interlock, retaining walls, concrete, armour stone, etc.

    • Install and supervise planting of trees, shrubs, perennials, flowers etc.

    • Sod and soil installation.

    • Operate equipment including mini ex, skid steers, tampers, diesel plates, sod rollers quick cuts etc.

    • Read and interpret plans, drawings and models and set grades.

    • Coordinate with supervisors, project managers, clients, and other contractors to ensure seamless project execution.

    • Conduct on-site inspections to ensure all installations meet design specifications and quality standards.

    • Supervise and motivate your crew.

    • Actively participate in on-the-job training of crew members.

    • Assist in winter operations by clearing and salting of snow from sidewalks, driveways, and parking lots for various residential and commercial properties during the winter months.

    • Complete and submit paperwork related to any jobs, maintain written time records and work orders.

    • Maintain accurate records of on-site activity including time tracking, work orders, health and safety forms, equipment logs, etc.

    • Communicate issues relating to employee relations, equipment issues, customer issues – make suggestions for solutions.

    • Maintain a trusting, inclusive, and productive environment.

    • Follow all health and safety policies and procedures prescribed by the Company and WHMIS Guidelines in performance of duties.

    • Load and unload materials, tools, and equipment required to complete project.

    • Transport materials using shovels, wheelbarrows, and hand lifting/carrying.

    • Operate various hand tools, power tools and small engine equipment including quick cut, plate packer, chainsaw, etc.

    • Follow direction of site foreman to complete tasks in a safe and timely manner.

    • Assist in winter operations by clearing and salting of snow from sidewalks, driveways, and parking lots for various residential and commercial properties during the winter months.

    • Communicate issues relating to employee relations, equipment issues, customer issues – make suggestions for solutions.

    • Maintain a trusting, inclusive, and productive environment.
